In my drawing series "Women in Traditional Costume," I combine precisely this feeling with the powerful imagery of traditional clothing, delicate lines, and the familiar view of the mountains. Each drawing shows a woman in traditional costume—from behind—as if she were standing facing the mountain world, lost in thought. A quiet moment that says a lot: about roots, femininity, strength, and stillness.
What traditional costume triggers in us: More than tradition
Traditional costume is more than just clothing. It is an expression of identity, pride, and history—but also of beauty, refinement, and appreciation for craftsmanship. Those who wear or contemplate traditional costume often sense a connection to past generations, to lived customs, but also to an attitude: "I know where I come from."
Traditional dress reflects femininity in its most powerful form—sensual, earthy, deeply connected to nature. And it is precisely this quiet strength that my works seek to convey. The women I draw aren't in the spotlight—they are at peace with themselves, rooted, open to the moment, and completely in tune with their surroundings.

In this series, I work primarily with charcoal and fine pencils. Why? Because this technique allows me to depict details with depth and character. The braided hair, the lace blouses, the folds of the dirndl—all of this is created layer by layer with meditative precision. The monochrome color scheme allows the eye to focus on the form, the light, and the atmosphere. And that's precisely what makes the drawing so expressive—it's understated yet speaks loudly.
