Heimat – ein Gefühl von Verbundenheit, Wurzeln und innerer Natürlichkeit

Home – a feeling of connection, roots and inner naturalness

Home is more than a place.
Home is a feeling. A quiet note within us that resonates again as soon as we step onto familiar paths, hear familiar voices, or breathe in the scent of forest and mountain air. Home is what holds us in our hearts – and at the same time, what allows us to grow.

It is here in the Alps that I feel this connection particularly strongly. The mountains shape us. They provide support, offer a broader perspective, and invite us to return to ourselves time and again. Their power is quiet yet undeniable. Anyone who lives in the Alps or loves them knows this feeling: You stand there, take a deep breath, and something inside you expands, becomes clear, and feels real.

Roots and rooting – why they are so important

We all have roots within us.
Roots made of memories, of our family stories, of traditions and small habits that accompany us throughout our lives. They give us stability – especially when our daily lives change rapidly, when we venture into new territory, or when changes are imminent.

Being put down does not mean standing still.
It means knowing where we come from in order to know where we can go. It is our inner grounding, our natural anchor point. And the deeper we know ourselves, the freer we become in the outer world.

What the environment does to us

Our environment shapes us more than we often realize.
The sound of a language, the colors of a landscape, the way people interact – all of this shapes identity. In the Alps, this sense of togetherness is particularly palpable: a shared understanding of nature, of simplicity, of authenticity.

It is a culture where clear air, the scent of wood, cool mountain streams and centuries-old customs all contribute to shaping the inner home.

On language, traditional dress and identification

Language is one of the strongest bonds of connection. A dialect can express an entire way of life. Traditional dress also tells stories: about women, families, regions, and times. It is clothing, but also identity, an expression of pride, belonging, and beauty.

It is precisely this symbolic power that fascinates me so much.
Traditional dress unites – it creates a “we”, without words.

Why my drawings should express precisely this feeling

With my new series of women in traditional dress , standing with a dreamy gaze towards the mountains, I want to make all these aspects visible:
Connection. Femininity. Roots. Arriving within oneself.

These women are more than just figures in traditional dress – they are symbols of longing and inner belonging. They represent that quiet, warm feeling when tradition and modernity touch and resonate within us.

Their gaze towards the mountains is also a gaze into their own depths – to where their roots lie and where their true strength begins.

Home as an invitation

Home is not a place that holds us captive.
Home is a place that supports us.

It reminds us who we are and gives us the courage to walk our path upright, consciously and connected.

With my drawings, I want to inspire exactly that:
To remind you of your own roots. To connect with you. To feel yourself. And perhaps to pause for a moment – as one does when gazing into the silence of the mountains.
